Art of Strength Co-Owner Helps Nephew Lose Weight

Frank Pawlowski gives up winter in paradise for a health make-over.

Hawaii resident Frank Pawlowski accepted a one-way ticket to New Jersey from his aunt on one condition: she had to guarantee she could help him lose 100 pounds by June.

Valerie Pawlowski, co-owner of Art of Strength NJ and Punch Kettlebell Gym in Far Hills, was willing to make the promise because she felt confident she coud create a plan for Frank that would enable him to succeed.

"She's the only one who can transform me," Frank said.

Pawlowski, 28, arrived in New Jersey on Nov. 18, weighing in at 367 lbs.—he's already lost 58 lbs. under Aunt Valerie's program, and is aiming for further losses to get below 300 pounds.

Valerie has him on an early morning, 45-minute intense Kettlebell training workout, plus a 30-minute ROPA cardio workout she notes provides great metabolic conditioning to blast fat. The day is finished off early evening with a second session blending vintage barbell and dumbbell progressions with kettlebells.

An occasional walk in the park with the dog provides a pleasant supplement to round out regular scheduled activity.

"It's going to be way different going back on the plane," Frank said. "There's going to be way more room in the seat. It's so much easier to get out of bed and get up off of the floor now. I have more energy and better stamina for my workouts—and even more."

What's Frank's message to others who would like the same success and results?  "Go for it, don't get discouraged, make the decision to do whatever it takes," he said.

Art of Strength will be holding an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 11, where visitors can check out the innovative—and as Frank can verify, effective—exercise and training equipment, as well as dietary supplements.
