Janet Fund Wants to Take You Out to the Ballgame

Help celebrate would have been Janet Zilinski's 16th birthday while raising money to help save children's lives.

If sudden cardiac arrest had not stopped the heart of Janet Zilinski when she was an 11-year-old cheeerleader, she'd be getting ready to mark her 16th birthday this year.

So instead of helping her celebrate, area residents are invited to help her memory serve to heighten awareness of childhood sudden cardiac arrest, one of the leading causes of death of children, and to help fund efforts to prevent additional deaths, with a July 3 date at TD Bank Ballpark.

The Janet Fund, the non-profit launched by Jim and Karen Zilinski to heighten awareness and prevent childhood sudden cardiac arrest, is sponsoring a night at the Somerset Patriots game, with specially-priced tickets available for $5.

The 6:05 p.m. game against the Long Island Ducks will also include fireworks after the game, a 50/50 raffle, and a surprise guest to throw the first pitch.

Go to www.thejanetfund.org to purchase tickets, which must be picked up at the stadium "Will call" window, and all proceeds will be donated to the fund to purchase automatic external defibrillators to placement at public locations, one of the keys to saving young lives, as well as train others in CPR and AED use, and raise awareness of sudden cardiac arrest.
