Driving on King George Road in the area of Ferguson Road is a rough ride—but a project to rebuilt the road starting around July 9 will return the drive to smooth sailing.
The project is one of about eight road projects the Township Committee approved for the summer, and according to Township Administrator Mark Krane, the projects cover much longer sections of road than the township has generally undertaken in the past.
"We're taking an aggressive role here, which we need to do," Township Committeeman Gary DiNardo said at the June 21 committee meeting.
The summer road work will start on King George and end on Old Stirling Road, as the township undertakes two separate projects covering nearly a mile of the road. Part of the project will be paid for by a state Department of transportation grant received last year, the remainder through an appropriation from the township capital funds.
