Where Has Power Been Restored?

Help keep our interactive map of power up-to-date.

As neighborhoods are reconnected to the elctrical grid, help us track the progress with this interactive map.

If your neighborhood has power, add your block to the comments box below and we'll update the map.

While neigborhoods aren't necessarily added in continguous fashion, it may be helpful for residents to see where the power is back on.

Live on Roberts Rd, off Valley View. Just behind high school. While checking residence spoke with a JCP&L supervisor who stated, " Your power comes from Stirling Rd, this area has been hard hit and since there are over 40 poles and transformers to replace, plus we need forestry crews in here to clear the trees...I would suggest you extend your motel stay until at least the 19th". He also added that getting the poles and transformers would be a challenge because they are in short supply. So residents on Valley View, Roberts Rd, parts of Mountain Ave to Stirling Rd, prepare for another week without power! Sure hope FEMA picks up myb2 week stay at the motel.

Saw mill had power from ThurAM .145. Unacceptable that PSE&G didn't send crews this way unti Mon..to see these reports is unacceptable and to see Steves iis more cornering.. I received this email today. Explain?

Public schools in Warren, Watchung and Long Hill closed until Monday.
  From the Echo-Sentinel:
The latest reports from both JCP&L and PSE&G show that Long Hill Township, Warren and Watchung may not see power completely restored until Sunday, Nov. 10 or later.
According to the latest reports, JCP&L expects to have their customers in the area to be completely online by this Sunday.  JCP&L has said that 1,124 residents in Long Hill will see power return today, Tuesday, Nov.6, with the other outages fixed throughout the weekWarren still has a large number of households without power, with 2,232 residents still offline as of this morning.  It is estimated that 912 households in the township should see their power return today.  Warren has 986 PSE&G customers without power.  Only 88 of those customers are expected to have power return today.  PSE&G predicts that outages could linger past this weekend.Watchung Borough has only 16 JCP&L customers without power.  The company is working to restore the scattered outages as soon as possible.  However, 1,863 PSE&G customers in Watchung are still without power.  PSE&G expects 244 customers to come online today, but is unsure of whether they will be able to restore power to the borough by Sunday.

Old Smalleytown Road Still out too..Valley View looks like a war zone. I was there this morning talking to an Ohio First Energy(JCPL) worker and he said they are just there "assessing" the damage but if he could get a crew there it could all be cleaned up and worked on within a day. However there was no immediate plans to get anyone working on it. Infact that was the first time in 8 days ANYONE from JCP&L or the affiliates had driven and stopped on that street. So tell me does it seem plausible that it took them 8 days to ASSESS and come up our way on Valley View given that are is right behind the high school. Does this mean school will be out for a third week too!!! Its unacceptable -that we are still without power in Warren and most of the town is getting restored before another storm. Had they assessed this area a week ago- we would have power by now- why was this area the last area to be assessed -yet it was the hardest hit.....Are they kidding at JCP&L- we need to petition this utility company OUT....

There are many locations that have similar destruction as there is around Valley View that are just getting looked at. The majority of town is still without power so I do not think anyone is ignoring your issues. They are trying to get things done as quick as possible. And I assure you... my neighborhood will not have power before the storm hits. For the past 2 storms we were the last to get restored.

Alana drive still with out Power. I couldn't agree more with My2sons. It is completely unacceptable that our town is still with out power for the most regardless on which part of town you live at. Neighboring towns such as Berkeley Heights and New Providence or even Long Hill have been restored a lot quicker than Warren. So the question is why?? Why other towns take priority while fit warren, only the center of town in restored and then jcpl dissapears. We really need a new utility company and we need town officials to make things happen. We don't need to hear that they hold daily calls with jcpl and nothing gets done. It's completely ridiculous that schools are still out when other neighboring towns are back in the classrooms. Complete disappointment and complete mismanagement by town officials. We need someone to speak up for the towns residents and make things happen!!! And pronto!! It's freezing and this living in the dark is getting pretty old!

Only someone who works for the utilities or town would say that Warren is not being ignored. It is now 44 degrees in my house and I'm now worried about the pipes freezing. Meanwhile, JCP&L is already prepping us for how they won't be able to work during the storm coming tomorrow, etc. We are most obviously being ignored. I am sick of living in these conditions and sick of a township administration that are a bunch of wimps.

Just because you don't see the crews doesn't mean they aren't working. Warren had EXTENSIVE damage and there are a lot of things that need to be fixed. They are doing the best they can, crews are working 12-16 hours a day, non stop until all power is restored.

It would be great to see JCP&L tally up the actual work they needed to do in Warren at the end of this storm, so we could get a feel for how tough a job it was. I think most of us here have been irritated by the lack of communication MORE than the lack of power.

He would be be back for the cleanup but not until the transformer was fixed. He is not scheduled to come back this week. JCPL has been an utterly unresponsive utility company, esp. for Warren area. On their website, they had indicated that majority of homes will be restored by Nov 7th. Now, it is Nov 7th and they have updated the message for today that it will take till Sunday, Nov 10th :( We all understand that this was a major storm but 9 days of outage in this day & age can't be forgiven. I agree with some of the comments about other towns making much more noise & driving utility company to focus on their area.

Last night was the first time I saw any utility trucks working in town and they were right in front of Chubb. King George road by Mountainview is a mess and all they do is put up some tape and close more roads. The township should update us on which roads are open and which are closed and their road crews should be out clearing some of the debris so that roads can be opened quickly once the wires are secured. Schools should take priority and should open asap.

I had to go to another neigboring town and got better information. We were last to get restored during Irene and now Sandy. Obviously our township officals are not as connected as they lead us to believe. I also concur that we should petition to replace JCPL. Warren-- the town of forgotten souls. How dare we be considered One of the Best Towns in the US.. Trust me I will be calling whoever did the poll and tell them how we are ignored and live without basic services.. Warren will be Voted #1 for the Worst Utility Service Thanks JCPL!!!! Signed Freezing in Greenwood Meadows..

Sorry for any confusion with the map—it's easier to add areas where there's power than to "unshade" areas as they get it. I also added pins to mark recent sightings of work crews—not all crews report working on lines, many are apparently "assessing," but please add any sightings to the comments box.

I would be curious to know if all of our elected officials have their power back or had access to town resources (ie generators) that other residents did not have access to. It would also be interesting to see if they are all on the same part of the grid of if JCP&L went piecemeal to make sure they were fixed first. The northeast side of town (Woodland, High School) has been completely neglected until yesterday and I am pretty sure none of them live in that section. Hillcrest, Valley View, Stirling looked like a war zone and were untouched. JCP&L has been feeding our town officials a line of BS and the trucks only started doing real work today on the northeast side. Based on the initial timeline, it is clear that JCP&L is completely incompetent and should have pushed those timelines out a week or more. That might have allowed people to better assess their situation and whether they should stay in town or leave. Also, given that schools were "supposed" to be up sooner rather than later, I am totally as to what order electricity was restored. The communication from our Superintendent has also been poor!

Hey Annoyed in Warren- very articulate post. Those of us with school age children need to unite and escalate the urgency of getting our kids back in school outside this post. I called Mayor CarolAnn Garofola direct line to communicate the frustration of us residents living along Valley View Rd- (near the High School and Woodland School) not having power on Day 10. Most imporantly though is the fact that our children may not be going back to school going into week 3. This is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE. Parents are having to plan back up for their kids day to day in hopes of some restoration. BUT there has been NO PROGRESS for us in this part of the TOWN. Shouldnt the schools have come first- ALL of Warren schools are out- and should have been made a priority. This is infuriating to me-and should be to all of you- we need to be heard BEYOND this post. I was told yesterday by a First Energy worker on Valley View near Roberts Road/Old Smallyetown Rd that they are there on Day 8 just assessing and that they are in short supply of the poles and transformers needed to make the fix in this area. Further more there was no work order that crews would actually be working there anytime this week and that was the first time he or the other trucks were in our area. 8 days to ASSESS...we are now on Day 10...WHERE IS OUR PROGRESS..GET OUR KIDS LEARNING AND BACK AT SCHOOL..WHERE WAS THE PRIORITY??...

Where is the Mayor and the Township Committee? Other towns websites list what roads are open and which are closed, they list which areas JCPL is working on, they list the open gas stations. No communication from the town concerning what is taking place. Perhaps it is time that we stop re-electing these people, it has become too easy for them and they really don't appear to care.

I've appreciated the daily updates from the township, including today the Mayor's personal voicemail number. My frustration is with the power utilities right now, and I want to see a coordinated effort to review their response and improve it for next time.

E.g. when there's a big outage like this, can we please have the whole township shut down at the substations for a limited period (e.g. 6-12 hours), enough to clear the roadways and get the wires out of the way. At least the emergency services, gas tankers, food deliveries and other critical services can then have good access to the township within the first day.

Power on Alana Ct by the H.S. since around 4pm. As thankful as I am, the amount of time this took is UNACCEPTABLE. We need to be heard beyond this blog. An emergency plan needs to be put in place in the likely event of this town falling victim of inclement weather yet again. Town officials get with it or get out of office and let competent and people who actually give a damn run the town.

I spoke to customer service and new ETA is Sunday @ 11:59pm for majority of customer in warren. I asked them to escalate and connect me to the supervisor or who ever she reports too; waited for about 1.5 hours and no manager came.

adria b... this is being done by volunteers. When large areas come online it is easier to do with a block (orange). Where we are TOLD of outages the blue lines were added. The only information we have is being reported by individuals. We are not in anyway affiliated with the power companies (who actually should be doing this).

PSE&G were around on Tues aftermoon to "access" - then at 4:30 am free cutters were here to clear the trees off the lines. (Wed). Now parts of Brady and Sneider Rd have power but not 6 homes. I called PSE&G and was told power was restored!!! Wait....what about us??? I feel so helpless in getting info. Just ANSWER the question - WHEN ARE WE GETTING POWER BACk? Do not pay "averaged" bills this month if they try to pull that crap! Get a meter reading before paying - then tell them you'll pay the bill by Wed, no wait we are very busy -make that Thurs. oh wait, we have many people working on that check.. Maybe you'll get paid by the end of next weekend!

@Mike Blue lines are ONLY added when someone alerts us to the fact that there is no power. This is an unofficial map being created based on community input. The only way we know if a street has power or not is from someone letting us know. I am sure your street will be added at the next update.

Upper Warren Way still doesn't have power. Thanks for putting this together and sharing info. Like many have said, this is much more informative than anything JCPL has done. In Edison a transformer on a pole blew last night at 8 pm. The power was back on by 4 am -- apparently PSEG works through the night during snowstorms. I wonder if JCPL does.

No power still on Old Smalleytown Rd near Valley View Rd. Valley View was a war zone and I am happy for my neighbors on Valley view. There is no reason Day 13 we still have no power. Where are the Jcpl trucks! Our street has been clear since day 1 and a busy road to the highway. Its infuriating at this point. Going into Warren township in person today. I am fed up with jcpl and their lack of clarity to our elected officials. We all deserve more than this. Sunday everyone will be restored thats another 3 days If..it happens.

JCP&L are plainly lying to us all. Their website has been saying for days that 90% of their customers have been restored. That should multiply the crews available to restore the remaining 10% shouldn't it? In 11 days I have seen a crew working on 2 occasions, both times a couple of days after the storm and nothing since.
Like many households our water is drawn from a well. We tried to make provision by storing water before the storm hit to flush toilets mainly. That ran out pretty quickly so our house is largely uninhabitable with no light, heat or running water. Thank god for the friends that have put us up for days on end but they shouldn't have been put to the trouble for the length of time that they have. Of course nobody at the town has thought that maybe a water truck could have helped a little have they? As far as JCP&L is concerned, they're not bothered in the slightest. They won't respond to enquiries either on the phone or email either. When this is over there needs to be an inquiry into their handling or lack thereof of the situation and if they are found to have bungled it they should be forced to pay compensation to all of us.

Debby Ln, Robin Road still out with downed poles, wires all over the streets. Even after 12 days, we have not seen and utility trucks enter this way! This is borderline irresponsible. Many houses around here have no water since they have well systems. Where and how do we get compensated?

I live on King George by Mountainview, and we still have downed poles and transformers in the street. Today is day 12 without power. I'm a single mom of 3 year old, and I know how frustrating it is to not have power, heat or hot water. But I also know that this hurricaine affected ALL of NJ, and many people lost everything. Everyone bitching on this site should be ashamed and disgusted with themselves. If you and your family are all alive and well, and you still have a home to come home to (dark or not), pls, SHUT UP!!!!
I personally want to thank Warren Twnshp for their updates via reverse 911, and ANY & ALL utility workers that are assisting in this recovery. Warren residents need to realize we are not the only people affected, and stop being so selfish. They are working as hard as they can.

K,
I share your sentiment that we are fortunate to have a home to come home to, as do most other people. It is the lack of information that I find frustrating. I realize that it is beyond the ability of the township to get the utility companies to respond to their requests and that JCP&L has been a source of misinformation. Yet the township website could be updated with open and closed roads. It has not been updated since the 2nd. On the 7th, the website posted a list of emergency resources, quit a bit late, wouldn't you say. The Mayor has stated that they have done a lot and list the towns listing of emergency plans being submitted to the county. The town does not draw up emergency plans at the last minute, every township has emergency plans and while these may need to be modified, not sure that submitting them to the county falls under the umbrella of doing a lot. I certainly have seen a lot of police directing traffic and I feel they have been doing an excellent job and are to be commended. Lastly 2 utility pickup trucks with workers sleeping in them have been parked on King George Rd all day by your house. Certainly, they will not accomplish anything without more equipment and they could be more useful elsewhere, so I find that frustrating.

No power still on Mountain Avenue between Old Stirling and Stirling, the rest of Mountain Avenue both east and west has power. No downed lines either, I have no idea what the delay is. I feel awful for Long Islanders, Staten Islanders, people in Belle Harbor, Breezy (I was out there helping a friend, and believe me it is a nightmare). FEMA is useless. What I don't get is all these politicians saying nothing at their press conferences, saying how hard they are all working, bipartisan backslaps, etc. To me, they have all utterly failed. I keep hearing how well Christie and Obama worked together. How exactly? Oh, I see an occasional brand spanking new FEMA trailer with a useless worker in his snappy windbreaker, but then they close their office in Staten Island because it is snowing???? Useless.

Just to state the obvious for those who are not aware. These utility workers are not good samaritans fixing the power lines out of the goodness of their hearts. They are being paid time and a half at least and most likely all union wages. They will be bringing home sugnificantly increased pay checks. The cost of this outage will show up later in higher utility rates that we will all have to pay and will not have a choice. So for me I will not be applauding anyone. Utilities are a business and everyone gets paid. I envision that there will be class action suits being started if only to make the utility companie confirm that they took all the appropriate actions and were not negligent.

Some questions on my mind. 1) How do we introduce competition?, 2) What legal action can we take..can we prove negligence? 3) How do you remove a utility company from a town? 4) Is there legal recourse for them consistently missing dates? 5) Should we all boycott the next several payments to JCPL. I am open to ideas. Thoughts?
