Who's Warren's Person of the Year?
TIME magazine named Barack Obama its person of the year—tell us who you think should win from our town!
On Dec. 19, Time magazine named President Barack Obama as its Person of the Year.
The magazine invited votes on 40 candidates, including Barack Obama, Gabby Douglas and Kim Jong Un. Other options included The Mars Rover and the Higgs Boson Particle.
But who cares about the same-old, same-old? Who is Warren’s Person of the Year—the man or woman who, in Timespeak, “most influenced the news this year for better or worse”?

I nominate Warren Township Library Circulation Supervisor, Larry Sapienza . His situation created what I consider to be some of Warren's darkest and brightest news for 2012.
When you wrote "who cares about the same-old,same-old." what immediately came to mind is the revolving Mayorship of Warren Township, the same 3 people giving each other turns at monopolizing the the township for decades , bantering about how many chickens one can count and involved with drunken judges , bad road designs and other scandles costing the taxpayers millions.
At least the news regarding Larry Sapienza displayed the citizens of Warren at their finest, gathering to rally against an unjust firing of a Warren library employee, and demanding action of a group of politically paralized hacks ranging from the Somerset County Library Director, the Library Commision, the Mayor of Warren, through the ever absent County Freeholder/Library Liasson .
The stories were riveting because they were about right and wrong, dark and light and a person's career hung in the balance. A person whom the community had free access to any day of the week, unlike the pompous administrative heads and tyrants that tried to take him out. Larry Sapienza emerged as a victory story of a decent human being who ,although was exiled from Warren Township in the end by a corrupt leadership group, represented a story we don't see often enough these days. A story of right over might, darkness defeated by light.

Judy Weiniger - She did the town a great service by providing a forum to allow the citizens to organize themselves going from 0-1,000 plus resident members in 12 days. The acts of citizen helping citizen with everything from generators to monitoring gas availability, food, and reporting on the power outages and the slow march to restoration really showed the power of community sourcing during a time of crisis. The log of activity during Sandy and her aftermath is truly a record of one of this communities finest hours.
