Season Comes to an End for Patriots

The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 9-5 before 5,974 in the final game of the season at TD Bank Ballpark.

Bridgeport scored first on an RBI groundout by Luis Lopez in the top of the first inning.

The Bluefish rallied to plate six runs in the top of the third highlighted by RBI doubles by Eddie Rogers and Jake Simmons and an RBI single by Pedro Lopez to make the score 7-0.

Somerset got on the board in the bottom half of the third inning on an RBI double by Colin Curtis.

A solo homerun the following inning by Prentice Redman (20) tacked on another run for Bridgeport and made the score 8-1.

The Patriots scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth after Jeff Nettles scored on a wild pitch and Curtis followed with a two run single to cut the lead 8-4.

An RBI base hit by Joe Holden added a run for the Patriots in the eighth to make the score 8-5.

Redman (21) blasted his second homerun of the game in the ninth to increase the Bridgeport lead and make the score 9-5.

Matt Pike (4-9) got the win for Bridgeport after allowing a run in four innings pitched.  Somerset starter Adam Champion (0-2) got the loss after allowing seven runs on six hits in 2.1 innings pitched.

The 2013 Somerset Patriots Season will begin in April.
