Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

About this column:

A weekly feature focused on topics discussed by Warren residents.
We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and until yesterday, hadn't seen much conversation going on. Then, there was a boom. Residents began posting about a loud boom around noon Tuesday, with people all across the township reporting hearing it. Some said they'd heard similar sounds before—and they were right. The source of the sound was blasting at the Weldon Materials quarry in Watchung, which certainly occurs from time to time. What about you? What are you talking to …
Since launching the new Talk of the Town feature a few weeks ago, we've been enjoying the feedback from readers on what's going on. Each week, we ask readers and friends on the Warren Patch Facebook page for the topics they're discussing with friends. From school events to youth sports, incoming storms and school colors, readers have been sharing the discussions that may or may not be in the news but still on lots of people's minds. We asked our friends on Facebook what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about, and learned about a change coming to Warren's Cold Stone Creamery Shop. Forecasts call for about three or four inches of snow in the area, but up here on Watchung Mountain, it's not uncommon for forecasters to underestimate the snowfall. School officials are telling residents there'…
We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and found an interesting discussion underway on the Watchung Hills Regional alumni Facebook page about the school colors. Larry Pearce wrote about the page's talk of changing the school colors from brown and gold to black and white, and asks, "Why?" What do you think? Would Watchung Hills' athletes gain strength from the gain in contrast? Do you vote for (in the accompanying photo) Tommy Giamo's balck and white jersey, or Anthony …
We asked our friends on Warren Patch Facebook page and Warren Township Community Facebook page what they're talking to their friends and neighbors about this week, and found two big topics: Watchung Hills Regional graduation planning and snow removal by the township's Department of Public Works. This week, the school's board of education set graduation for 5 p.m. June 21 after several weeks of discussions with parents, staff members and students. Before casting their votes, each board member gave a brief statement of their feelings about the discussions, and while all but one voted in favor …
