Watchung Hills to Welcome 'Future Warriors' Before Friday Game

Pre-game activities and dedication on Friday before Watchung Hills-Warren Hills football game.

Before Watchung Hills Regional High football takes on Warren Hills at 7 p.m. at home on Tozier Field in Warren on Friday, the Touchdown Club is hosting its annual Future Warriors Night, where youth football players and cheerleaders from the Watchung Hills Pop Warner and Junior Warriors football/cheer programs will be honored before the start of the Warriors Game.

The kids, in a large group, will be announced and run onto the field, representing the “future” football players and cheerleaders of Watchung Hills High School.

This will take place at 6:45 p.m. before the 7 p.m. kick-off, said Glenn Mastrobattista, President of Watchung Hills Warriors Touchdown Club.

All of the kids will also get a special commemoration gift from the Touchdown Club, he said.

Prior to that activity, the Touchdown Club will have a special dedication, whereby we will be renaming the team’s inflatable blast tunnel (the players run through the tunnel and out onto the field before the game as a show of pride and spirit) as the Jerry Mobus Spirit Tunnel, Mastrobattista said.

The renaming will be in honor of the late Mayor of Watchung, who served as the longtime voice of the Warriors Football Program, he said.
