Affinity Federal Credit Union Raises Money on Pi Day

Affinity Federal Credit Union Foundation continued its monthly employee fundraising program by hosting “Pi (π) Day” on March 14, 2014. In exchange for a donation of $5.00 to the Foundation, employees were able to wear jeans to work.  As an extra incentive, the Foundation served pie to all who participated.  Funds raised will support Affinity Federal Credit Union’s Financial Literacy Programs, which are offered to schools and community organizations free of charge.  Classes are tailored to meet the needs of each particular group.

“We chose Pi Day as the date of our financial literacy fundraiser because we wanted to bring an element of fun to a topic that can be scary,” said Dr. Lauretta A. Farrell, executive director of the Foundation.  “Like math, managing personal finances can be overwhelming.  Over the years, Affinity employees have developed a comprehensive financial literacy curriculum that makes issues like budgeting, debt management, buying a house, or saving for retirement more relevant and accessible.”
