BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonder and the beauty of nature as autumn approaches in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.

CHILDREN & TEEN PROGRAMS

 

Story Hour

            Saturday, September 21 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

            Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will listen to a Naturalist

            read an environmental-based story and enjoy a short walk on the

            trails of the EEC.

            The program is free.

ADULT & FAMILY PROGRAMS

 

Garden Discovery Tour - Stonecrop Gardens

            Tuesday, September 17 from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

            Enjoy a day trip to this 12-acre public garden in the Hudson Highlands.

                        Display areas include woodland and water gardens, grass gardens,

                        cliff rock gardens, raised alpine stone beds, and an enclosed

                        English-style flower garden.  

            Fee is $50 per adult and $40 per senior.

Blue “BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays” bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch

Park in Bridgewater.  The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
