Julie Bowen Announces Oxford Township School District as Grant Winner of Anaphylaxis Awareness Competition

Emmy®-award winning actress Julie Bowen and Mylan Specialty announced Oxford Township School District (Oxford, N.J.) as a winner of the Raise Your Hand for Anaphylaxis Awareness™ competition.

With an estimated one in 13 children in the U.S. living with a food allergy, school communities across the country are calling for increased awareness of and preparedness for life-threatening allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).

With that in mind, Mylan Specialty launched Raise Your Hand for Anaphylaxis Awareness, a nationwide competition that encouraged school districts to virtually “raise their hands” at www.Anaphylaxis101.com to have their community counted as one that supports anaphylaxis education. During the four-month competition, nearly 150,000 hands were raised across all 50 states, representing 835 school districts.

The four school districts that received the most “hands raised” received a $15,000 educational grant that they are encouraged to use for anaphylaxis awareness programs. They include:

  • Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District (Cheektowaga, N.Y.)
  • Oxford Township School District (Oxford, N.J.)
  • Utica Community Schools (Utica, Mich.)
  • Ossining Union Free School District (Ossining, N.Y.)
