Arboretum Activities Will Have You Buzzing

If you want to know more about bees, head to Wagner Farms this month.

Every farm relies on bees to help plants bear fruit, and Wagner Farms is no different. As an added bonus, honey bees produce honey—but getting the honey from bees takes experience and skill.

Wagner Farms Arboretum will host a Honey Harvest Day with the Morris/Somerset Beekeeping Association from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16, where visitors to the arboretum can watch local beekeepers extract the honey from beehives at Wagner Farms. It's an ancient art that fascinates everyone, and admission is free and open to all.

Plus, visitors can taste the spring honey as it comes right off the frames, and learn how important bees are to farming efforts.

The delicious local honey—which can be helpful for allergy sufferers—can be purchased at the event, with the proceeds going to help support the
beekeeping efforts of the local chapter.

Then, be sure to come back at 7 p.m. July 27 for a special showing of "The Bee Movie" at Wagner Farms Arboretum, sponsored by the Warren Township Recreation Commission.
