Get Ready for Turkey Day

Watchung Hills students will dine like it's Nov. 24.

You Need To Know It’s Thanksgiving: At Watchung Hills Regional High School, it is: Principal Thomas DiGanci will demonstrate his skills at carving a Thanksgiving turkeys at lunch today. Students will enjoy a full meal—it's like study for next week.

You Need To Know Wimpy Kids: He's not Harry Potter, but author Jeff Kinney's Wimpy Kid series is resonating with young readers. The Warren Township Library is celebrating the release of the sixth book in the series, "Cabin Fever," with a party for kids ages 9 to 11 at 4 p.m. There will be games, and if you bring a prewashed, light color T-shirt, you can decorate it with your favorite Wimpy Kid character.

You Need To Know Making Friends: The Somerset County Single Women's Group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Somerset County Human Services building, 27 Warren St. in Somerville. The group for single women over 60 has aboout 50 members, who enjoy a variety of activities during the meetings. You can learn more by calling Ann Farshtey at 732-560-4389.

You Need To Know Parental Visits: The grade schools are welcoming parents thsi week, and today is the final chance for the visits. Head to Woodland School between 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.; or 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Mt. Horeb; and from 1:10 p.m. and 2:10 p.m. at Central School.

You Need To Know Late Starts: Thanks to the unexpected school closures after the Oct. 28 snowstorm, the first marking period at Watchung Hills ended a little later than expected. Consequently, the second quarter starts later also—today! Start the quarter right—go out and get an "A."
