Mega-Fever Hits Warren...and Everywhere Else!

With a jackpot expected at more than half-a-billion, why not?

Optimism is in full bloom this week, as customers lined up at Warren convenience stores to stock up on Mega Millions Lottery tickets as the payout for a winning ticket tonight is projected to top $540 million.

Both Krauszer's Convenience Stores were enjoying brisk sales Thursday—Stirling Road store manager Raj Pattan said the store had sold 1,874 lottery tickets by 5 p.m. Both stores had a steady stream of buyers, some hopeful, some nervous, but most being prudent with their purchases.

"I don't get crazy with it," Sheri James, of Plainfield, said after picking up a few tickets at the Mountain Boulevard store. She added she does buy lottery tickets every now and then but isn't a regular buyer.

You already know how lousy the odds are (if you need a refresher, check out this AOL article), but who can resist?

"When it's that high, you gotta try," one customer said, noting he didn't usually buy tickets for the Mega Millions game. "It can't hurt to buy a couple of tickets."

Pattan said it would be great if one of his customers won the big one, adding the store has had two Jersey Cash lottery winners, both claiming more than $150,000.

"That would be exciting," he said.
