Need Help After Irene? Here Are Some Contacts

If your yard is covered with branches, or there's water in your basement, here's where you can find help.

A day after Hurricane Irene swept through the area, many people will be working through checklists on things needing attention. Here's a run-down on some contacts you may need:

You Need To Know Who To Call If Your Basement Flooded: You can call your nearest volunteer fire depatment with help draining water in your basement if you have 8 inches or more of water. Less than that, they won't help, and you'll need to check with area plumbers—or neighbors.

You Need To Know How To Check For Power Restoration: Many residents are wthout power, and it's hard to know for certain when it will be restored. But PSE&G customers can get some details on efforts to restore thier power by logging in to their customer account online. JCP&L customers can track progress towards power restoration on the company's Outage Map, which is updated every 15 minutes.

You Need To Know Where To Eat: Reduced power is available at some of the Mountain Boulevard centers—you may be able to enjoy a meal in town if you're unable to cook at home. Mansuettos Seafood posted they have partial power and hope to open at 11 a.m. Monday.

You Need To Know Who To Call For Downed Tree Limbs: Borough crews will be cleaning up the downed trees and limbs on the roadways throughout town; if you need someone to cut trees, limbs and branches, try calling these local companies:
