Basking Ridge


When/Where: On Saturday, Feb. 25, from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m., the 8th annual Food and Wine Event to raise funds for the Bernards High ski racing team will be held at the Liberty Corner firehouse, 95 Church St., in the Liberty Corner section of Bernards.
Why Go: Raise funds for the entirely parent-supported ski team, while getting to hear the music of the Blues Hall of Fame's Johnny Charles Band, featuring Nasty Ned. In addition to a night of great food and music, there will be a wine
tasting courtesy of 56 Degree Wine of Bernardsville.

 'Cat in the Hat' Fun
When/Where: Thursday, 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Bernards Township Library, 32 S. Maple Ave., Basking Ridge. Must be accompanied by an adult.
Why Go: Join Ann Coppola (Mother Goose) and Kate Pak for a fun interactive program sprinkled with tidbits of nonsense.

Community Art Show
When/Where:
The first Bernards Township Community Art Show will remain at the in Basking Ridge through Feb. 26, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Closed on Feb. 13 and 20.
Why Go: A variety of art pieces from 40 local artists — who knew we had so much talent in our own backyard?

Tom Klimchock Performance
When/Where: Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the .
Why Go: To listen to contemporary songs of George Strait, Toby Keith and Lonestar, and the classics of Gene Autry, Hank Williams and George Jones, all sung by 18-year country music veteran Tom Klimchock.
Cost: Free.

Summer Day Camp Open House
When/Where: Friday at 10 a.m. at the Somerset Valley YMCA on Green Street in Somerville.
Why Go: To learn about the more than 40 day camps offered by the Somerset Valley YMCA in Bridgewater and Somerville.
Cost: Free.

Wacky Science
When/Where: Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m. at the on Vogt Drive.
Why Go: To see some fun science projects and wacky science performances through mad scientists. There are two shows being held because of popular demand, one at 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Registration is required, and there is a wait list.
Cost: Free.

Believe in our Community
When/Where: Saturday at 2 p.m. at the  on Vogt Drive.
Why Go: To learn about faith in cross-cultural conflict through a program at the library with Christopher Taylor, PhD., who is starting his series of programs for Building Common Ground.
Cost: Free.

Learn Medicare and Medigap
Where/When: Library of the Chathams, 2 p.m. Friday
Why go: a specialist will demonstrate how to receive a personalized report through the library's Medicare and Medigap database.

Why go: The program features some regular guest singers who sing with the church's music program, many of whom also sing musical theater.
