Residents Express Shock, Sadness at Death

Pamela Schmidt was active in schools, business world.

Warren residents have expressed shock and sadness at the news of the .

Many in Warren knew and remembered her through her years in Warren schools before she graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 2007. Warren Middle School teacher Bev MacGorman said Schmidt was a member of the babysitting and cooking clubs in middle school.

"When I first came back to teaching, she was one of the first students I spent time with," MacGorman said Tuesday. "I'm so heartsick. She used to stay after the clubs and talk."

Others expressed their sadness for the family's loss, including Warren Townsip Board of Education President Gregory Przybylski, who expressed the board's sympathies at Monday's meeting.

Schmidt's body was , William Parisio, 23, on Greaves Place in Cranford Sunday. He has been , and is being held at the Union County Jail on $400,000 bail, according to the Union County Prosecutor's Office.

Schmidt was interning at Amicus Therapeutics in Cranford, and was on schedule to graduate this year from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, with hopes to continue her studies toward a master's degree in Human Resources Management. She belonged to the Psi Chi Psychology National Honor Society.

According to her LinkedIn page, she had interned at Sirius XM Radio in New York City from September 2009 to May 2010 in the human resources department, as well as at First Investors, and also worked as a business development manager/HR coordinator at Staubach & Associates, in Somerset.

Calls to Schmidt's home have not been returned and neighbors have declined to comment on her death.
