Seventh-Graders Go Bald for Childhood Cancers

Jack Horan organizes fundraising event at Sports Clips for the St. Baldrick Foundation.

Warren Middle School seventh-grader Jack Horan is fully committed to his favorite cause, which is raising money for the St. Baldrick Foundation, which supports research into the causes and treatments of childhood cancers.

On Friday, Jack and six friends went to Sport Clips, where their heads were shaved to raise money for research into conquering childhood cancers. Jack organized this event and formed "Team Jackpot" to raise money for the foundation for a third year. He's already raised more that $18,200 in his previous fundraisers and his team—which includes Jarett Schwartz, Calvin Li, Carl Peterson, Ian Zohn Tyler Carapezzi, David Cantone, Nabeel Jan, Joe Horan and Mike Susko had $14,200 committed for this year.

You can still donate to Team Jackpot (with or without shaving your head) through the team's page on the St. Baldrick Foundation website.

After Friday's event, the team thanked Sports Clips owner David Sandelovsk for volunteering his shop and staff, who had a terrific sense of humor about the event—starting the boys off with crazy hair styles before shaving off the rest of their hair.
