Shaking to Their Souls

Kripalu Yoga Dance at Warren Library leaves participants feeling energized, centered.

Every Tuesday, a group of local residents gathers to take part in Shake Your Soul Kripalu Yoga Dance at the Warren Library.

Shake Your Soul is about having fun, dancing to great music, and feeling good in your body, according to the participants. It's based in Kripalu Yoga and is a holistic approach to movement and dance, inspired by yoga, Qi Kung, modern dance, African dance, and body-mind centering.

"Shake Your Soul is about a mind and body connection, timing breathing with movement to release tension," said teacher Pat Kennelly, who was trained in the Kripalu Yoga Dance style. "At the end of the class they say they feel great."

"Marcela Dunham, adult programs director, does a wonderful job," Lorrie Lane, one of the participants who has been coming to the library programs for the past three years, added about the library's program director.
