Shop is All About the Subs

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Just Subs

Overview: Just Subs is located on Route 206 in Hillsborough, and offers a variety of salads and subs, subs and more subs.

Décor: The décor is fairly plain, with a counter for making subs, and several tables in the front of the store. Drink refrigerators are located on the left and right of the ordering counter. There’s an ATM to withdraw cash—the store doesn’t accept cards—and a large menu showcasing the sub choices.

The Drinks: It's a fairly normal sub shop, with a selection of iced teas, sodas, and other bottled drinks.

Entrees: Just Subs’ lives up to its name, offering, well, just subs and a few side salads. Chips and cookies make other side options for a meal, but the shop is all about its subs. Patrons can choose from regular white or whole wheat rolls and options toe the traditional sub combos—ham, salami, various cheeses, roast beef, turkey. Highlights include the store’s Cappacola and Proscutinni subs, but otherwise, the menu’s straight forward.

Desserts:  The shop offers a limited selection of packaged cookies, but dessert lovers might want to look elsewhere to ply their sweet tooth.

Service: Just Subs seems to have its service down to a science, handling the steady trickle of customers who came to the shop. There’s one counter where patrons order—cell phone users beware, the store asks that you complete your conversation prior to ordering. Once the base of the sub’s constructed, patrons ask to add the veggies, pickles and other condiments to their creation. The shop does seem more geared to take-out orders rather than eat-in fare.
