Somerset Hills YMCA to Hold Open House Sunday

Opportunity to take classes and use facilities at both YMCA locations at Riverwalk and Mount Airy Road in Basking Ridge.

The will host an open house for all community members, including potential new members, from 1 to 5 p.m. this Sunday at both its main facility at 140 Mount Airy Road and at the Riverwalk location at 665 Martinsville Road in Basking Ridge.

The open house, offering both free classes and use of the pool and other facilities, is open to everybody, according to an announcement from the YMCA.

A variety of free classes will be offered at both locations. For example, at Riverwalk, Zumba dancing, Yogalates, Pilates, Hip Hop Classes, Preschool Dance and Full Body Kinesis will be offered; at the Mount Airy Road location, dance classes for kids, kinesis classes, group exercise classes and more will be offered. The pools and water slides will be open, as well as the rock climbing wall.

Guests are encouraged to check the Somerset Hills YMCA website for a full online schedule.

Visitors who become members that day will be offered a $1 initiation fee as well as a $60 online credit at the YMCA, according to the YMCA.

Wendy Wolski, certified leadership, life & executive coach, will be at the Mount Airy Road YMCA to host a workshop designed to give visitors tips and suggestions on prioritizing personal and professional goals, specifically on those that can yield the greatest satisfaction and lasting results. The life coach meet and greet is scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m., the website said.

The tips are geared to people whose goals are to become more effective, focused and fulfilled, who are seeking better balance, integration and satisfaction or who are in transition in work or life, according to Andrea Williams, spokeswoman for the YMCA.

Raffles will also be held every hour for many prizes during the day. Guests are encouraged to check in at the YMCA's welcome center desk on arrival in order to be entered into the raffles.

“This is a great opportunity for people in the community to come and find out what the Y is all about,” said Sue Diebold, Senior Director of Healthy Living at the Somerset Hills YMCA. "We do have a fantastic facility here, but we really run much deeper than that. We offer all kinds of support programs for youth, teens, families and active older adults that help you grow in spirit, mind and body,” Diebold said.
