State Basketball Tips Off

Girls and boys in action to start the next seven days off.

Along with some informative discussions and recycling opportunities this week, you can get out and see the local high school varsity basketball squads in state tournament action to kick off the week.

Here's a look at what else is happening this week:

Monday-The Watchung Hills High School girls varsity basketball team takes on Linden in the opening round of the state tournament at at 7 p.m. The boys team plays on the same day and time at Columbia High School.

Tuesday-Head to Meeting Room 1 and professional organizer Eva Abreu will discuss how to de-clutter and organize your belongings at 7 to 8:30 p.m.  

Wednesday-Children of all ages are invited to read five minutes of their favorite story book to a therapy dog from St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center in the Program Room of the from 7 to 8 p.m.

Thursday-It's recycling day in in the township. Remember to place materials at curbside either the night before or no later than 7 a.m.

Friday-A production of the "Velveteen Rabbit" based on the story by Margery Williams will be performed by the Somerset Valley Players in Hillsborough at 8 p.m.

Saturday-It's recycling drop off day at the Somerset County Recycling Center. You can do so from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Food Bank Network of Somerset County and the Leadership Somerset Class of 2008 will also be collecting at the center, so make sure to donate.

Sunday-The annual Big Basket Bonanza, with chances to win hundreds of prizes by drawing, will be held at the Ted Blum 4-H Center at the Rutgers Cooperative Extension at 1 p.m.
