Temple Panel Ready to Tackle Legal, Medical Ethical Questions

Sunday discussion plans to discuss challenging ethical topics.

The many ethical challenges faced by today's medical and legal practitioners can cause even the most prepared to stop and think—which is what a program planned for Sunday at Temple Har Shalom hopes to get an audience to do.

Moderator Wendy Pillar said a four-member panel of Warren residents who practice either medicine or law will discuss several "very meaty" scenarios, and the implications and ethical considerations they involve. Topics will include aging, disease disclosure, and organ donations.

Pillar said the program, which starts at 11 a.m. and is open to the public, is part of the temple's Adult Learning Series. Other events in the series include visiting authors and artists, and other public events of interest for adults.

Pillar said the Bio-ethical and legal ethics discussion will include Temple Rabbi Randi Musnitsky, as well as temple members Jane Kelsey and David Blattise, both lawyers, anesthesiologist Rachel Ostry and Dr. Robert Segal, an internist specializing in infectious diseases.

Pillar added audience members will have opportunities to participate in the discussion as well.

The event is free. For more information, contact the temple at 732-357-8777.
