The Lesson of the Law of Attraction—Thoughts and Feelings Rule!

Full capacity crowd enjoys Law of Attraction lecture at Physical Therapy Unlimited

A group of 12 local residents enthusiastically attended the Understanding (and using) the Law of Attraction lecture Feb. 9 at Physical Therapy Unlimited in Warren, led by Dr. Barbara Krebs, Certified Life Empowerment Coach, psychology professor and author.

Dr. Krebs made a compelling case for the law of attraction and the power of our thoughts in determining the outcome of any circumstance.

“Change your thoughts, change your life,” she reminded us.  She supported her assertions with credible references to her own research and writing as well as others, including Rhonda Byrne and Esther and Gary Hicks.

The group particularly enjoy the guided meditation meant to slow our pace, use the power of deep breathing to relax and be present and in the moment, and through affirming and grateful thoughts build a positive field or aura around us—a positive magnetic field to attract positives in return.

Think about how often we say or hear, “you get what you deserve.”  Dr. Krebs' message was “you get what you think, what you feel” and she made the argument that the connection between our thoughts and our feelings and what manifests are always a match – no exceptions.

The biggest “ah-ha’s” for me were:

  • The Hick’s Vibrational Scale which ranks feeling frequencies from most positive to most negative.  It was not so surprising to learn that the most positive – and most powerfully enhancing – is love, but most of us in  the group incorrectly believed  hate to be the most negative emotion—when in fact it is fear!
  • The group asked for advice on dealing with negative people  and Dr. Krebs’ suggestion was to change the subject if possible, if not, remove yourself.  She reinforced that “downers” are like energy vampires that will drain you in time.  The group agreed.
  • The Horse Visualization—love, love, love this!  I paraphrase from my notes:  Imagine a whole stable of horses, all different colors and patterns, each one bearing the name of a negative emotion.  When a negative emotion takes over your thoughts and/or feelings, recognize it, and see yourself on that horse carrying its name.  Realize you have the power to get off the horse, and do it, to change the course of your thinking, your feelings, and the outcome.

Hocus pocus or real stuff?   I'll share with you my "yesterday" and you make the call:

I am a positive person by nature, but we all have our "bad days."  My Monday began very early, with me racing  to a Networking  Group meeting that starts at 7:15 a.m. I arrived to an empty room—the meeting  cancellation email somehow hadn’t made it to me.

Angry,  I stormed home and a few hours later, still on the “Angry Horse”  went out to my car to go to my next meeting,  slipped and fell hard  in my driveway.   Fast forward 3 hours, and there I sat for 45 minutes waiting for a no-show to see a Warren home.  The power of my feelings and thinking had impacted my day—over and over again.   My “I’m having a bad day” thoughts had become a self-fulfilling prophecy!

So next time you see me, if you I say, “I’m getting off that horse,” you’ll understand where I’m coming from.  Thank you to Dr. Krebs for her insights and expertise and to Physical Therapy Unlimited for hosting this helpful and very well received session.
