Vendors Sought for Watchung Hills Fundraising Sale

Local craftspeople or small sales businesses can help students, teachers by joining PTO's Spring Marketplace.

The Watchung Hills Regional PTO's members see lots of opportunities for their donations to the school: there are the student scholarships they provide ($10,000 awarded every year), but also lots of great classroom programs and other projects they'd like to support.

But the challenge is always finding events that can help raise the money the PTO needs to support all those projects—and that's where a Spring Marketplace planned for April 13 comes in. According to PTO President Kristy Hartman, the event is a "change up" from previous years' fundraising to try and draw more people.

"We've done the fashion show for the last few years, but we thought we would change it up," she said.

While the shows were very popular with the students and staff at Watchung Hills, Hartmann said the sale could draw more from other towns—especially if all 100 tables available are reserved.

Whether someone has a side craft business or a distributorship for a line of goods, Hartmann said the sale should be a great outlet. PTO member Sherry Binder noted the show will include jewelry, accessories, tabletop, gifts, clothing, food products, kitchen tools, kids items and much more.

Food vendors from local restaurants will also be there, as well as some businesses advertising their services such as local gyms.

"This is a great opportunity for vendors to be exposed to thousands of customers," she said. "A good PR event."

She added there's plenty of parking and the fair will include food and refreshments for sale, as well as basket raffles.

The PTO will benefit from the table rental fees vendors will pay, plus 10 percent of sales proceeds. Tables are $50 for the first; $30 for additional, and rack space is available for $30. The sale will be open from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. April 13 in the South Cafeteria at the school.
