Unleash Your Creativity with 'Artists' Way' Workshop

Warren's Monica Giglio leading workshop and six-week course at Summit studios.

Regardless of a person's profession these days, those with creativity and ideas are valued the most highly in every endeavor—but many have difficulty removing the roadblocks that keep them from fully expressing their ideas.

But creativity and artistry can be unleashed, and an upcoming class led by someone who knows will teach some methods that encourage participants to find the artist within. Monica Giglio's six-week workshop study of "The Artist's Way," by Julia Cameron, will help participants find their way to being more creative, artistic and energetic at work and at home.

Giglio, who launched Purpose Drive Arts last year in addition to her interior design studio, writing endeavors and other artistic projects, said she found "The Artist's Way" program to be beneficial despite her already voluminous artistic work while sharing the program with others.

"More than ever I began to understand that being creative in music, writing, film, fine art, can be a spiritual pursuit," she said. "If you believe there is a Creator of the universe, as most religions do and I do, then you understand that the human ability to express ideas through the creative process can be a spiritual pursuit."

The exercises and techniques in "The Artist's Way" help focus those energies to enable people to let their art flow through them.

"All art forms become more purposeful when this concept is embraced," Giglio added. "When this understanding came to me with more clarity than ever before, I was inspired to form a company (Purpose Drive Arts ) to promote the concept of the creative process as a spiritual pursuit."

The workshop will be offered on Tuesdays, May 7 through June 11 from noon to 2 p.m., at Mondo Summit , 426 Springfield Ave., Summit, following an introductory workshop 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 1. To reserve a spot in either the workshop or the six-week course, email Giglio and let her know.
