Watchung Arts Center Seeks Adult, Student Artworks for Exhibition

Artwork must be delivered in November to be included.

The regional Watchung Arts Center this week announces a call to area artists to contribute pieces to two exhibitions in December, for adult members and for students ages 4 to 17.

The annual Member’s Juried and 22nd Annual Children’s Juried Art Exhibitions in December are open for all adult member and student artists to submit work  to the show, to feature a wide variety of mediums from talented artists of all ages, and professional and amateur. All details and forms can be found on the exhibitions page at WatchungArts.org. Reception will take place on Sunday, Dec. 8.

Call to Children Artists Ages 4 – 17

The Children’s Juried Art Show seeks talented New Jersey residents to exhibit in the annual December exhibition to recognizes the budding talents and creative potential of young artists.

The mission of that show is to encourage artistic development in children by providing an opportunity for the display and appreciation of their work outside home and school.  The WAC hopes to encourage the support of instructors, schools, and parents in our communities to promote student’s participation in an exciting event.

Artists may submit up to three pieces, according to Stacy Gannon, executive director. All media including sculpture accepted.

No entries done in crayons, markers or photography, will be accepted, according to the rules. Original work only theme. A $15 entry fee along with the works may be submitted in November.

Members’ Juried Art Exhibition

New and Existing Members of the Watchung Arts Center are invited to submit art work at the end of November for the Annual Member’s Juried Art Show. The winner will become the featured artist in solo show in the Lower Gallery the following year. 

Artists mayecome a member online or download a registration form to be eligible. All memberships must be current. Details can be found on center’s website.

Artist Virginia Carroll, Winner of the 2012 Members Juried Art show, will exhibit her works through in December in the Lower Gallery.

The Watchung Arts Center’s Gallery and office hours are noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, and Saturday by appointment at 18 Stirling Road in Watchung.

To exhibit in the Members Juried Art Show, artists must be a current member of the center, possibly by signing up online or visiting the center.

All artwork must be hand delivered between noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25. Those unable to deliver on that date can deliver between 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24.

Pieces for the Childrens Show must be delivered from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov.  5, 12, and 19; and on Thursday, Nov. 7, 14, and 21; or from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Cost is $15 for up to three pieces.
