Assemblywoman Nancy Munoz Named Deputy Whip

Joins Jon Bramnick among GOP leadership in Assembly.

Warren's two representatives in the New Jersey Assembly are now among the Republican Party's leadership in Trenton, as Assemblywoman Nancy Muñoz was appointed Assembly Republican Deputy Whip by the 21st District's other Assembly representative, Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick, Tuesday.

Muñoz represents the 21st Legislative District which includes parts of Union, Morris and Somerset counties. Muñoz has served in the Assembly since 2009, after she stepped in to complete the unexpired term of her husband, Eric, who passed away on March 30, 2009.

Muñoz said she is grateful for the opportunity to be Deputy Assembly Republican Whip, after she was named to the leadership position by Assemblyman Bramnick. She was formerly co-chair of the Assembly Republican Policy Committee.

“I appreciate the confidence Assemblyman Bramnick has in my ability and I am eager to serve in this new capacity,” said Muñoz. “I have learned a lot since my arrival in the Legislature almost four years ago. I look forward to taking on the challenges and responsibilities of my new role and will do my best to serve the interests of my constituents, fellow caucus members and colleagues in the Legislature.”

Muñoz has worked to improve access to healthcare and provide educational benefits to veterans. She championed legislation known as the “Jessica Lunsford Act” that increases criminal penalties for those who commit sex crimes against minors.
