Love is in the QR Codes

Bridgewater Commons is holding a contest for a trip to Hawaii.

is encouraging shoppers to use their cell phones to find love at the mall.

Until Feb. 14, customers can take part in the "Where is the Love?" sweepstakes, according to a release from the mall. To take part, customers should be looking for, and scanning, love-themed QR codes hidden throughout the mall.

According to the release, hearts, cupids and red lips will be embedded with QR codes in different areas of the mall. And when a shopper scans one of those codes, the person is immediately entered for a chance to win one of 30 $10 Shop Etc. Mall Gift Cards, to be awarded each day of the sweepstakes.

There will be hints about the locations of the codes on the Bridgewater Commons Facebook page.

Those entered into the competition will also have the opportunity to win the grand prize, a seven-day and six-night vacation for two to Kauai, Hawaii. Winners will stay at the new Kauai Marriott Resort on Kalapaki Beach, and the trip includes round trip airfare, hotel accommodations and airport transfers.

"Smartphones now play such a central part of our everyday lives, so we try to create fun and engaging promotions to keep our guests entertained while shopping at our mall," said Amy Harris, marketing manager, in the release.

According to the release, the first scan of a code creates one entry into the sweepstakes, while the second scan awards five additional entries. Finding the third scan, the release said, awards an additional 10 entries.
