In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Verizon hosted a “Stand Up. Step Out. End Domestic Violence” walk last week at its Warren office. The public demonstration attracted the support of at least 93 employees, according to Verizon.
Additionally, for every registered walker, Verizon donated $100 to Break the Cycle, an organization dedicated to empowering youth to end dating violence, for a total of up to $50,000 in participating locations
One in every four women and one in seven men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes, and an estimated 1.3 million women are assaulted by an intimate partner each year, according to statistics from Verizon.
Last Thursday, Verizon employees came together to raise awareness around domestic violence and take meaningful steps toward ending this societal issue.
