BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset County Business Partnership Financial Services Special Interest Group (FiSIG) will address an important business issue, “Potholes & Speed Traps on the Information Superhighway” on Thursday, October 24, 2013. The workshop is scheduled for 8:30 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. and will take place at the Somerset County Business Partnership, 360 Grove Street at Route 22 east, Bridgewater, New Jersey.

The morning session will address the increasingly important issue of the proliferation of companies that are using copyright and trademark infringement lawsuits is a revenue stream and the methods that are being utilized. Any business that posts information to the Internet through their web site or other means is potentially subject to this growing problem.

 

The discussion will provide business decision makers with the necessary background to enable them to avoid entanglement in these “speed traps,” while protecting them from theft the corporate ideas, copyrights, and trademarks that are universally posted on the internet. Also discussed will be the equally important issue of avoidance of infringing upon another company's copyrights and trademark rights. Care must be taken to fully understand the meaning of “free” prior to accessing information of visuals from web sites.

 

Presenter will be Lori Patrick, Esq., an attorney specializing in intellectual property and trademarks with Coughlin & Duffy.
