What to do at the beach this weekend.

Rain may put a damper on  this weekend, but there's still plenty to do at the Shore! From volleyball competition to live entertainment, baseball and more, there's fun for the whole family. Check out the events below.

EVENTS

Ocean County will kick off the summer the right way with a from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, rain or shine. Sit back and enjoy free music in the shadow of the lighthouse or take the trek up the lighthouse at this outdoor event. For more information, call 877-627-2757.

The Toms River Municipal Alliance will offer Family Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at 1505 North Bay Ave. The day’s focus is health, safety and substance abuse prevention. There will be free games, crafts, activities, face painting, refreshments, health screenings and services available for parents and children. 

Long Branch will go to the dogs with the, Chelsea Avenue, at 10 a.m. Saturday. The daylong event will feature lovable pooches engaging in fun activities as well as family arts and crafts sessions. Sponsored by the Purr'n Pooch Foundation, Long Branch and Pier Village, the day also will feature adoptable dogs from the Monmouth County SPCA. For more information, click here.

The Lakewood Blueclaws minor league team will light up the night sky Friday with a at its game with the Delmarva Shorebirds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. at FirstEnergy Park, 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood. Click here to buy tickets.

Shore seniors will show off their vocal talents Sunday in hopes of being crowned the . Eighteen finalists from Monmouth and Ocean counties will compete at the , 173 Main St., Manasquan, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $16; click here for more information.

NIGHTLIFE

— The premiere nightclub at the Jersey Shore, Jenk’s has top-notch live entertainment, can’t-beat drink specials, and high energy dance parties.

Friday: Live performance by Dark City Saints at 10 p.m. $2.50 Coors Light until midnight.

Saturday: No Standards at 2p.m.; The Benjamins at 10p.m.

Sunday: Flying Mueller Brothers at 2 p.m. Go-Go Gadget and DJ Unique at night with $3 Corona and Corona Lights all night.

Klee’s, 101 Blvd, Seaside Heights — In between all the wild parties and clubs in Seaside, Klee’s has managed to maintain its local, friendly clientele. Here you’ll find great drinks specials and the best of local entertainment.

Friday: Live entertainment with Jimmy Ray Band.

Saturday: Live entertainment with Pat Guadagno.

, Barnegat — A with a sit-down restaurant and live acts.

Friday: $2 Coors Light bottles starting at 9 p.m. and live entertainment with AJ Stone.

Forked River House, 121 South Main St., Forked RiverForked River House features big screen TVs, comfort food and an always-trusty happy hour seven days a week!

Friday: Happy hour from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. with 25-cent wings, $3 thin crust bar pies, $5 lunch specials and $2 Miller Lite and Coors Light drafts. DJ Robbie O starts the party at 8 p.m.

Saturday: Dance party begins at 8 p.m. with DJ Damien Anthony. Happy hour specials run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

— Edgar’s is a great family spot for dinner and also a party haven in the summer. With weekend entertainment, rows of big screen TVs and late night DJs, this pub gets packed.

Friday: Happy hour from 7 to 11 p.m. with $2 Coors Light. DJs will be spinning today’s hit music for a late night party beginning at 9 p.m.

Saturday: Happy hour from 7 to 11 p.m. with $2 Bud and Bud Lights. Guinco’s Market will be performing an acoustic session live.

Boathouse, 1309 Main St, Belmar-The mother of all Shore bars, Boathouse is a nautically-themed haven for surfers and beach-goers. They have drink specials and nightly entertainment.

Friday: $1.75 domestic drafts, $2.50 domestic bottles, $3.50 premium drafts. 

Saturday: $4 Bloody Marys, $3 Miller Lite bottles. Live music by The Groove.

RESTAURANTS

Tiffany’s, 270 Route 37 E., Toms River — A popular sports bar with various locations throughout New Jersey, including Toms River, Tiffany’s has award-winning ribs, a solid happy hour and nightly promotions.

— Cranberries offers American fare, with an emphasis on great steaks and chops. There's a DJ on weekends, and the restaurant is open until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. 

Shogun Legends, 1969 Route 34, Wall — Shogun Legends offers delicious Asian fusion cuisine, Hibachi dishes and sushi. Private party rooms are available. The restaurant is open until 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

— The Pilot House is a seaman's delight, with amazing views of the water and dock for boats right along the restaurant. It offers a great wine list and specializes in prime rib, lobster, filet mignon and raw bar offerings.
