VoiceWorks to Perform Songs of Christmas

The group will be hosting a concert Friday in Martinsville.

Sometimes there's just not enough days in the week, but every Wednesday we'll give you an idea of something to do to relax, spend time with family and just take some time for yourself.

And now, we’re ready for a little holiday singing.

The VoiceWorks Christmas Extravaganza is set for Friday, featuring Pitch Black (a vocal jazz choir), the Impulse Handbell Ensemble and the VoiceWorks Musical Theatre Ensemble, with a collection of holiday concert favorites.

A total of about 40 students from the three ensembles will be performing, according to Ryan Guth, managing and artistic director of VoiceWorks.

The group will be performing holiday songs from shows like “White Christmas” and many more.

The cost of attending the concert is $15, and all proceeds will go to benefit the American Red Cross for Sandy relief efforts.

“Each year we do a Christmas concert to benefit a charity,” Guth said. “Our first year was Love Inc. for teaching job skills to those in need, the second was Open Door, a food pantry, and this year is Sandy relief.”

“At VoiceWorks, we believe that musicians and actors play an important role as community leaders and public servants,” he added. “For that reason, most all of our performances have a charitable component.”

For those interested in continuing to watch the work of the VoiceWorks Musical Theatre Ensemble, Guth said, they will be featured on News 12 New Jersey “Sounds of the Season” this Christmas.

Friday's concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Martinsville United Methodist Church on Washington Valley Road in Martinsville.

A hot chocolate reception will follow the concert.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at voiceworksnj.com.
