Watchung Hills Alums Planning 'All Years Reunion'

Anyone who grew up in Watchung Hills Regional's sending districts is invited.

A reunion set for Nov. 24 at Watchung's Colorado Cafe will draw about 500 former Watchung Hills Regional students, and others who grew up in the area.

Organizers planning the event hope to bring together a wide variety of the school's alumni.

"This is the first time we've tried something like this," Tom Castronovo, one of the organizers said. "Who knows how it will work out."

It should work out well: the reunion will feature musical performances by local favorites including the Bob Lanza Blues Band—featuring Bob Lanza, Tino Dapolito and Sandy Joren—and Bob Marino. Herb Sudzen, host of "Sudzen Country" on 88.7 FM will also attend.

Plus, proceeds from the event will go to several charities.

Planning for the reunion began sometime ago, with emails circulating to alums. But then Hurricane Sandy came and blew the planning off course.

"We're tyring to get anybody who grew up in Warren, Watchung, Green Brook and Long Hill—or who went to school here," Castronovo said.

The reunion is limited to 500 particlpants, and the $20 admission tickets will include door prizes to be awarded during the 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. event, a drink ticket, a $10 coupon for a return visit to the Colorado Cafe, and door prizes.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be used to cover the hall's fees, with all proceeds going to charity.

Tickets can be purchased from WHRHS alum Brian LeBoeuf at Sports Minded Unlimited, or from the Colorado Cafe by calling 908-322-7200, ext. 0, on Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 4 p.m. and midnight to purchase tickets.
