Water Restrictions Issued for Warren, Watchung

Company requests residents limit outdoor watering.

With a seemingly endless wave of heat driving up water demand, New Jersey American Water is requesting that customers in Watchung and Warren Township in Somerset County follow a schedule of odd/even outdoor watering for the foreseeable future.

Customers with an odd-numbered street address are being asked to limit outdoor watering to odd-numbered days of the month; and those with an even-numbered street address are advised to limit outdoor water use to even-numbered days of the month.

“The portion of our system that serves Warren and Watchung experiences sharp increases in peak water demands during periods of hot and dry weather,”  said Stephen Schmitt, vice president of operations for New Jersey American Water. “Adhering to an odd/even outdoor watering schedule will help insure that  water pressure and fire protection is maintained for our customers.”
