What You Need To Know for Saturday

As New Jersey and Warren continue to deal with the post-Sandy world, here's what you need to know today:

1. Some power is coming back on in Warren.

JCP&L says it has 2,895 customers without power in Warren, down from 3,200 yesterday. PSE&G says its number has dropped to between 1 and 500. Power came on in neighborhoods around lower Mt. Bethel Road yesterday, as well as the west end on Washington Valley Road.

2. A Video of Township Updates is showing on cable.

A 20-minute video with Mayor Carolann Garafola, OEM Director Jane Asch and Vic Sordillo can bee seen at the top of every hour today on the township's cable access channel. The video includes updates on information residents will want to know. 

3. Check your license plate to see if you get gas today.

Under the new gas rationing orders, those whose last number on their license plate is odd can get gas after noon. That should cut waits down...a little.

Gas stations in town that will open include the Exxon stations (Liberty Corner Road and Route 78; and Mt. Bethel Road), and the Delta gas at Warren Automotive. DiNardo's has sign out that it's out of gas.

4. You can vote today or tomorrow, if you want.

The township has moved the voting for districts 6 through 10 to Stonecrest Community Church on Tuesday (all other districts are unaffected), but you can go to the Somerset County Clerk's Office, at 20 Grove St. in Somerville, and cast your vote from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today or tomorrow, if you want.

5. Temperatures are dropping—check out the warming centers.

The township has two locations where residents can warm up, charge up and rest up: the municipal courthouse or Stonecrest Community Church. The courtroom is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Stonecrest is also functioning as an overnight shelter, so is open anytime.

Congressman Leonard Lance, R-7th, is checking in with residents and will be at the center at about 1 p.m. today. 

6. Mt. Horeb Road is open.

The tree that had fallen near Mt. Bethel Road is gone, so there's a clear route the entire length of the road. King George Road is still a mess, as is Round Top Road.

Mountainview Road has been closed between Liberty Corner Road and Chesterfield Drive.
