Help Remember a Local Navy SEAL Killed in Action

Far Hills resident Matt Kantor died in 2012 in Afghanistan. A scholarship in his name is being established at Watchung Hills.

Matt Kantor seemed to have it all. The Far Hills student was a gifted athlete and scholar, so smart he earned a full academic scholarship to the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

But instead the 2008 Watchung Hills Regional High School graduate chose to become a Navy Seal, according to a story in the Echoes-Sentinel.

While in Afghanistan in 2012, Kantor was killed in action. Now his cousin Lauren is hoping to raise $1,850 to establish a scholarship in his name at his alma mater.

The campaign, launched on GoFundMe, has surpassed its goal. If you want to honor a Navy SEAL who gave his life for his country, go to the GoFundMe page and make a donation.
