Two Tennessee Gay Couples Travel to Warren to Marry

Warren's Trinity Church welcomed the gay men Thursday, when the wedding ceremony was performed.

Four Tennessee men found a welcoming home in a Warren Church on Thursday. The two couples and a pastor traveled to the township to exchange their wedding vows.

Robert Spence and Mike Walsh, and Stan Rodriguez and Jerry DeVolder got married at Trinity United Church, according to a report on MyCentralJersey.com. Spence and Walsh were together for 29 years, while Rodriquez and DeVolder had been in their relationship 39 years.

A State Superior Court ruling in October paved the way for recognition of gay marriage, something not permitted in Tennessee which passed a constitutional amendment against the practice. The two-couple double ceremony was officiated by United Church of Cookeville pastor Gene Skipworth, who traveled with the four men, and Trinity United Church pastor James deBoer, the MyCentralJersey.com article said.
