Library's January Programs Aimed at Helping Resolutions Take

Series of programs will help get you off to a good start.

The Warren Township Library can help you to jump start and keep your New Year’s Resolutions, with a series of programs related to popular New Year’s goals, such as health improvement, stress management and getting organized.

The following programs, geared toward adults, require pre-registration.  Registration can be done online —click on "Adult Programs" under "Links of Interest," find the program on the calendar and double-click to register.

Wellness Saturday @ your Library on Jan. 14.

Total Body Transformation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.: Meet personal trainer Andrea Viola, for an introductory session of her sought-after class "Body Architect."  She will be discuss how diet and exercise changed her life and lead her into her chosen profession as a personal trainer.  The talk will be followed by a sample of 'Body Architect', a group fitness class that is being requested throughout Central Jersey.  Wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel or mat to do some exercises on the floor. 

Introduction to Meditation from 2 to 3 p.m.: Take the mystery out of meditation and learn how its practice can help you learn to focus, reduce stress and fatigue, and experience a deeper sense of self-awareness. Certified Hypno-Counselor Susan Lembo will talk about some of the benefits of meditation and will guide you through the basics of meditation: deep-breathing, visualization and relaxation.

Flu Season: Immune System Boosting Foods: 7 p.m. Jan. 25

Eating healthy during the cold and flu season can help avoid getting sick. Find out why to eat certain foods that are naturally high in antioxidants and five simple ways to boost your immune system this flu season. Discover foods to feed your body throughout the day to provide energy and increase concentration.  Start the New Year with the right approach to obtaining optimal health and wellness, with Mona Laru from Naked Nutrition in Flemington. 

Meditation – Part 2: Accomplishing your Goals through Meditation: 2 p.m. Jan. 21. Hypno-Counselor Susan Lembo will present the second part of our Meditation series to put you on the right track to accomplish your goals and fulfill those New Year's Resolutions. This year, keep your resolutions. Use your creative imagination to develop your ability to clearly visualize and focus on your goals.  Create your personal positive affirmations. Learn self-hypnosis.  Develop healthy habits and thought patterns, let go of the unhealthy ones. Strengthen your commitment to healthy lifestyle changes in 2012.

Staying Healthy on a Shoestring Budget: 7 p.m. Jan. 26.  Naturopathic consultant Dr. Nikki Conte will explain her basic philosophy: Take the least amount of supplements that will have the most beneficial effect. Learn how to make an informed and proper choice of supplements, herbs and homeopathic remedies to prevent and heal a variety of ailments as well as maintain optimal health for you and your family. Discover what products are recommended for your kitchen cabinet and medicine chest, how and when to use them.
