The Arts Have Blossomed at WHRHS

Tune In! To learn more about all the events happening at the High School for the annual Spring Arts Festival!

Enjoy a spectacle of Music, Film, Theater, Dance and Visual Arts with the exceptionally talented students at Watchung Hills.

There is something for everyone at the 2013 Spring Arts Festival at Watchung Hills this week. Join us as we open our doors to the community to showcase the arts and all the hard work the students have created for this weeklong event.

Here is some of what you will be enjoying this week!

All week long, you can stroll the halls of WHRHS from 6-9 pm and enjoy the artwork created by our students! Please note that all these events are FREE, except the dance ensemble performances later in the week.

Tuesday May 14

Beginning at 7:00 pm in the PAC, WHRHS students will present Vocal and Instrumental performances.

The concert will include performances by Brass in Black, the Flute Ensemble, a sax ensemble, a Drum Solo and a String Bass duet. On the vocal side of the night, there will be solo performances along with a group medley of Les Miserables. Here is the link to the program with all of the performances. 

From 7-9 pm in the South Auditorium the film teacher Mr. Iacovone will showcase some short films that students have directed and produced. The film festival will consist of 15 movies that were student run. After all the films are shown, there will be an awards ceremony that includes the following awards of

  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Editing
  • Best Screenplay
  • Best Director
  • Best Overall Movie

From 7-9 in the PAC, Mr. Eaton will present a 30-minute version of Romeo and Juliet directed by Robert Martin and Taylor DaSilva. There will also be some scenes and monologues from the students as well.

The 2nd half of the night will feature the debut of a Senior Cabaret! About 11 seniors will be performing one last time to shine on stage before graduation.

Thursday May 16- Saturday May 18

At 7:30 in the PAC the WHRHS Dance Ensemble will debut their work. This is the Dance Departments biggest performance of the year.  There is an admission fee to help support the dance ensemble.

Many of the dances are choreographed by students, which include: Nicole Viola, Alyssa Puccio, Jamie Perrucci, Alyssa Rizzo, Isha Kohsla, Jackie Gronske, and Sarah Deluty.

Guest Artists include: Melissa Markowich, Morgaine DeLeonardis and Kelli McGovern.
