Tune In! to find out the schedule of events for the arts department!

Hello everyone!

With the second half of the school year now in full swing I am here and together we can all get excited for all the new events coming up!

INSTRUMENTAL NEWS:

Congrats to senior Jake Bahr on his first chair placement in the All-State Wind Ensemble! Great way to end your All-State Ensemble experiences! We are all very proud of you!

SCRIPT & CUE

It’s that time of year again! On March 14-16 at 7:30 in the PAC, Script & Cue Presents: “The Roar of the Greasepaint, the Smell of the Crowd.”  It will be a fun filled evening for everyone! A trailer will be coming soon with more information! But definitely mark your calendars!

ARTS DEPARTMENT EVENTS:

On May 15 2013, the WHRHS Arts Department will travel to the Somerset County Teen Arts Festival at Raritan Valley Community College. This festival includes performances for instrumentalists, vocalists, actors, dancers, and a showcase for art and video. Throughout the day, each group that attends will perform for judges and are critiqued and given advice on how to improve for the next year! There are also different workshops that are offered through the day and it is a fun filled day for everyone!

From May 14-18, the arts department has their annual Spring Arts Festival, which is a week long event that showcases all the wonderful talent the students have created throughout the year. The art students have an Art Show to showcase their creations throughout the art hallway. The Instrumental Music students have their own night, you can see small vocal ensembles, soloists, Flute Trios and even a Jazz Band perform. The Dance Ensemble has their annual performance that they work all year on! The Dance Ensemble is an audition only group and they work hard all year long to prepare for this event. Along with the Dance Ensemble, there are One Acts that Script & Cue put on as well.

Well, that’s it for now!  Remember to mark those calendars with the dates above! I will be back soon with more news!
