WHRHS Students' Attend the Somerset County Teen Arts Festival

Tune In! to find out about the Teen Arts Festival, WHRHS students' attended on on Wednesday.

On Wednesday May 15, 2013 over a hundred students from WHRHS attended the Teen Arts Festival at Raritan Valley Community College. The Festival showcased Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Film, Vocal Music, Creative Writing and Visual Art.

About 39 vocal music students, 24 instrumental students, 23 art students, 28 dance students, 3 film students and 3 creative writing students participated the festival.

During the day, the students showcased their work whether in a gallery, or in front of judges and an audience. The judges took their time to discuss the work or performance and make verbal suggestions to the group regarding the overall performance and ways the students may improve their work for future performances. A written evaluation is provided to the teachers as well.

Throughout the course of the day, whether a group was waiting to perform or has already performed, the students got the chance to go to a number or different workshops.

For example, in the Creative Writing department, one could have gone to a “The Art of Writing a Screenplay” workshop where they would learn how to write and learn different plans and formulas in writing screenplays. The dance students could have attended a workshop about performance skills. There were Jazz workshops, monologue workshops, documentary shooting workshops, a Photoshop workshop and a choral workshop.
