Crime Report Details Falling Rate of Property Crimes

Warren sees 12 percent drop in property crimes from 2009 to 2010.

Property crime in Warren continued to drop in 2010, falling to the lowest level in more than 10 years, according to the Uniform Crime Report issued by the FBI.

The UCR compiles information on crimes from state and municipal police, providing a snapshot of local crime each year.

The UCR includes figures for violent crimes, of which Warren Township reported five incidents in 2010 (one rape, one robbery and three incidents of aggravate assault), as well as property crimes (including larceny/robbery, burglary and auto theft).

The rate of property crime in has been declining in recent years but the drop between crimes reported in 2009 and 2010 was significant. A total of 75 property crimes were reported in 2010, compared to 87 in 2009, a drop of 13 percent.

Burglaries, in particular, dropped the most, with 16 reported in 2010 compared to 23 in 2009.
