Driver Hits Sign After Avoiding Deer

April 21

A vehicle driven by Candace Piscaldo, 24, of Manville, hit a road sign after she swerved to avoid a deer on Dubois Road at 10 p.m. No injuries were reported in the incident.

April 20

A vehicle parked in the Watchung Hills Regional High School parking lot was damaged sometime April 20. The damage, scratches to the hood and front fender, are estimated to cost $700 to repar and was reported at 3:06 p.m.

April 19

Police responded to a three-car accident on Mt. Bethel Road at 8:37 a.m., after a vehicle driven by John Toth, 36, of Hillsborough, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Jesse Slawski-Griffith, 29, also of Hillsborough, forcing it into a vehicle driven by Ann Harris, 36, of Scottsville, Va. No summonses were issued and no injuries were reported in the incident.

A sign valued at $5 was reported stolen from a Hillcrest Road residence.

An Upper Warren Way resident reported a frudulent credit card charge for $159. Police are investigating the incident.

 April 15

Carol Robinson, 38, of Trenton, was charged with driving while her license was suspended about 3 p.m. April 15, after the vehicle she was driving on Mt. Bethel Road struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Thomas Abel, 23, of Warren.
No injuries were reported in the accident.

Matthew Scharff, 24, of New Brunswick, was charged with driving while intoxicated at 6:18 p.m. after the vehicle he was driving on Dock Watch Hollow Road hit a utility pole.

Scharff was also charged with careless driving, reckless driving and failing to stay in his traffic lane. He was released in the custody of a family member after the charegs were filed.

April 16

Police investigated a case of reported criminal mischief at a Hillscrest Road site, involving a lock on a storage trailer that was tampered with. Nothing was taken from the trailer, police said.

Dylan Prus, 18, of Warren, was charged with failing to stay in his traffic lane after he lost control of the vehicle he was driving on Washington Valley Road and went into a yard at 9:34 p.m. No injuries were reported in the incident.
