Drivers Slipping and Sliding in Warren on Icy Day

Series of vehicles sliding off roads and into mailbox, ravine or tree.

Warren's hilly and winding roads on Wednesday saw a number of single-vehicle accidents, some on icy patches, township police reported. Only one of the drivers was transported to the hospital, according to police.

At 6:51 a.m., Jorge R. Avalos-Alvarez, 48, of North Plainfield reportedly lost control of his vehicle on ice on Mountain View Road near Chubb & Son, and slid off the roadway, police said. No injuries were reported, and the owner had the vehicle removed, according to police.

At 7:11 a.m., Emily Slass, 17, of Warren, reported having losing control of her vehicle on Strawberry Lane near Brookside Drive, and striking a mailbox, the police report said. No injuries were reported, and the car was towed by Dinardo Towing.

At 8:32 a.m., a vehicle driven by Claudia Natale, 41, of Bound Brook, on King George Road at Rose Court slid into a tree and caused minor property damage, according to police. No injuries were reported, and Dinardo's Towing removed the vehicle, police said.

Later, at 3:20 p.m., township police and emergency medical service volunteers answered a call for a motor vehicle accident with injuries on Ferguson Road near Dock Watch Hollow Road. Robert Kosovan Jr., 40, of Bound Brook, lost control and drove into a ravine, police said. 

Kosovan was taken to Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, and Dinardo's Towing removed the vehicle, police said.
