Landscaper in Stable Condition After Being Struck by Car

28-year-old Bernardsville resident suffers head and leg trauma in accident.

28-year-old Mario Piliko, the landscaper airlifted after being struck by a vehicle on Mountainview Road Monday morning, is in stable condition at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, according to police.

Police said Piliko, of Bernardsville, suffered head and leg trauma after being struck by a vehicle driven by Alapatt Thomas, 65, of Warren, at about 8:40 a.m.

Piliko was standing in the roadway helping a co-worker of Basking Ridge-based TF Landscaping & Maintenance back up a landscaping truck onto Mountainview Road when the accident occurred, police said.

Thomas was driving eastbound in the area of 184 Mountainview Road when he struck Piliko, police said. No summonses were issued in the accident, police said.

The Warren Township Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Collision Analysis Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.
