Driver Loses Control of Vehicle After Avoiding Deer

April 4

No injuries were reported after a vehicle driven by Dabiel Rito, 17, of Warren, struck a curb on Mountainview Road after he swerved to avoid hitting a deer and lost control of the vehicle at 11:12 p.m.

April 3

At 8:51 p.m., a Manor Drive resident reported the theft of jewelry valued at $6,100 from the residence. The theft occurred sometime in the last week and police did not find signs of forced entry to the residence.

Police and first aid squad volunteers responded to a 9:32 p.m. accident on Dead River Road, after a vehicle driven by Kevin Sykes, 17, of Warren, struck a utility pole after swerving to avoid a deer. Sykes, and a 16-year-old passenger from Green Brook, received minor injuries but refused medical attention.

April 2

Andrew Wengert, 21, of Warren, refused treatment for cuts to his hand after the vehicle he was driving on Mountain Avenue, near Cory's Brook, went off the road and hit a tree at 8:18 p.m. He was charged with careless driving after the accident.

April 1

Avis Johnson, 56, of Lyons, was charged with heroin possession after the vehicle she was driving on King George Road was stopped by police at 3:44 p.m. She was released pending an appearance in municipal court after the charge was filed.
