Warren Man Allegedly Caught With $5,500 Worth of Pot

Authorities said tip that he would be at hotel with large quantity of marijuana led to bust.

A 21-year-old Warren man was caught with about 1 pound of marijuana worth $5,500 in a township hotel parking lot Wednesday night, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.

Colin Heinle, 21, of Roberts Road, was charged with third-degree possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Authorities received a tip that a man named "Colin" would be driving a black Hyundai with a large quantity of marijuana near a Warren hotel, Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Stuart A. Buckman and Warren Township Chief of Police Russell Leffert said.

The Prosecutor's Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force detectives and Warren Township Police set up surveillance in the area of the hotel. At about 9:30 p.m., authorities spotted a black Hyundai pull into the hotel's rear lot, the prosecutor's office said.

Police stopped the vehicle, and identified Heinle as the driver, according to the prosecutor's office. He was told of the narcotics investigation, and police said he voluntarily authorized a search of the car, the prosecutor's office said.

Detectives said they found about 1 pound of marijuana in the car, with a street value of $5,500.

Heinle was taken to the Somerset County Jail to be held until a bail hearing, the prosecutor's office said.

If found guilty of the charge, Heinle could face up to 10 years in prison.

All card-carrying members of the DEA need to read: Shoulda Robbed a Bank Here is one of its reviews: 5.0 out of 5 stars... If David Sedaris had written 'Catcher in the Rye'..this would be it, June 30, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Shoulda Robbed a Bank (Kindle Edition) I have never smoked pot in my life...nor do I ever care to. I read about this book in numerous Huffington Post comments. Thought I would read it because I know nothing about marijuana or the people involved with it. I am ecstatic that I did. Funny, Funny, Funny!!! The chapters are like short stories. Stories about unloading boats with helicopters, close encounters with law enforcement, traveling through the jungles of South America. The chapter about the author's first time smoking marijuana made me feel like I was with him...coughing. All of the characters were just a group of loveable, nice guys and girls. Not what I had been raised to believe...hysterical maniacs high on pot bent on death and mayhem. They were nothing like that. If you have ever read any of David Sedaris' books, and like them...you will love Shoulda Robbed a Bank. And the crazy things happening reminded me of Holden Caufield in 'Catcher in the Rye' and the way he staggered through life. The way the words are put together are like nothing I have ever heard. I am sure I will use many of the sayings found in this book just to dazzle my friends. A terrific read. I love this book.

Why is 'big pharma' not being prosecuted? In 2009, 26,000 deaths from prescription medicines. Deaths caused by marijuana...not a single one in recorded history. Several years ago, I had surgery on my right shoulder. Pain medication was prescribed..."take one capsule every 4 hours." I took one capsule. I was down for over 20 hours. When I came to, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. The next time I felt discomfort, I smoked a small amount of marijuana ...pain gone, no after effects. I threw the pills out. Then I wrote: Shoulda Robbed a Bank My contribution to helping point out just how ludicrous our pot laws truly are. I hope you check it out. And, I wish Mr Heinle comlete exoneration. What a pathetic waste of law enforcement time and money.

Easy case for a good lawyer. Warren's Mayberry RFD will be eaten up along with the prosecutors office Floyd. The 21 yr old was set up and both departments imtimidated the young man. Warren should try catching the ones breaking into all the homes in town not worrying about getting weed for there parties. The money both departments personal are paid they can afford to buy their own weed in Plainfield. I hope the 21 yr old file suit against the departmemts.

$343/oz seems kind of pricey. Where do they come with those prices?

"A 21-year-old Warren man was caught with about 1 pound of marijuana ..." and could face up to 10 years in prison. The really sad part of this is that these guys are not kidding. The marijuana debacle is pathetic. I spent 5 years in Federal Prison for a marijuana offense. I wrote about the escapades that led to my incarceration: Shoulda Robbed a Bank I pray for Mr. Heinle's speedy and complete exoneration. What has happened to our 'free' country?
