Driver Charged After Hitting Vehicle

Aug. 24

Andrew Wong, 17, of Millington, was charged wth careless driving after the vehicle he was driving on King George Road, at Mountainview Road, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Matthew Mahoney, 21, of Belmar. No injuries were reported.

Aug. 23

Police responded to an accident at 11 a.m. on Mt. Bethel Road, after a vehicle driven by Rachel Brown, 18, of Millington, hit the rear of a vehicle driven by Klaus Teepe, 38, of Warren. No injuries were reported at the accident site, and no charges have been filed.

Aug. 22

A Tiffany Way resident reported someone used their identity to open a credit account at Best Buy to purchase $1,130.46 in merchandise.

Aug. 19

Police responded to an accident at 10:58 a.m., on Liberty Corner Road, near Mountain View Road, when a vehicle driven by Barbara Brenner, 71, of Warren, hit a vehicle driven by Therese Crowley, 45, of Basking Ridge. No charges were filed in the incident.

A vehicle driven by Anita Basak, 68, of Clifton, crashed into a house on Apple Tree Lane at about 3:30 p.m., after she lost control of the vehicle. Minor damage to the house was reported, and no inuries occurred.

Police investigated a report of a hit-and-run on Hillcrest Road, near I-78, at 6:51 p.m. Theodore Weltner III, 25, of Green Brook, reported a van crossed the center line of the road and sideswiped his vehicle, before drivign away on I-78, as Weltner was driving in the southbound lane of Hillcrest.

Lyle Saltzman, 37, of Plainfield, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after police stopped the vehicle he was driving on Hillcrest Road, near Crestwood Drive, at 9:39 p.m.
