Poll: Are You Worried by the Recent String of Thefts From Cars?

Residents report 13 incidents in recent weeks.

In the last seven weeks, Warren police have been following up on 13 reports of theft from vehicles. Cash—in one case, thousands of dollars—purses, wallets and iPods have been taken from vehicles.

We've created a map showing the locations of vehicle break-ins occurring since the beginning of December, with markers to indicate the week of the incident. The map shows most of the incidents have been on Warren's western side—but that's still a large area, spreading police out and leaving neighborhoods vulnerable.

Residents appear to be heeding advice on ways to prevent thefts from cars, or even car thefts—in two recent incidents, thieves smashed windows to get to the goods inside the vehicle. Polcie continue to stress the importance of locking vehicles, and avoid leaving valuable items in plain sight for thieves to spot.
